CCRC

Retirement can be a changing phase of your life when you have fulfilled nearly all your career duties and responsibilities  and now you have time to enjoy a pressure free life. Life after retirement can become even more relaxed and comfortable if you have planned it well keeping all future possible hazards in mind.

While contemplating  about future plans, one comes across a lot of choices; whether he or she wants to live an independent life or he would like to move to a retirement community and like wise.

Before coming down to any decision, one must consider what type of a life style he wants to live and most importantly how fit is he now and how has he planned for his health care needs, if required in future.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) may be a very good option to choose, for, they offer a life style which lets you to be independent and yet protect and care for all your needs. CCRC offers a long term contract that covers all your requirements like housing needs, services, and nursing care at competitive fees which is lesser than market charges.

Usually all these facilities are provided within one location. One may enter the CCRC contract at any point of his life and he is free to choose an option of his choice from independent living if you need little assistance or no assistance, or assisted living when you need some assistance in doing daily activities like bathing, dressing, eating etc., or you can also choose nursing home care in case of some chronic ailment. Many of seniors enter into a  CCRC contract during early years, planning for a future stay among the same age group people and at the same time planning for the financial means to support the housing and other needs for rest of their life.

CCRC has various options to give to its users. For instance, it has both large and small communities. Now it is up to the person to decide whether he prefers an active and informal social life or he wants to live a formal and less active life. There are CCRCs of all types and sizes; you should select the one which fits in the best for your personal requirements. One must keep a few things in mind while deciding a Continuing Care Retirement Community for him/her:

  1. Exact cost for the services offered (there should be no hidden cost for the promised services).
  2. Find out about their reputation and quality of services beforehand.
  3. What all options are available to you?
  4. The contract is a legal agreement between you and the CCRC that you have chosen. It enables you to avail living and health care services for a long term at the agreed fee structure.
  5. Don’t forget to check whether it licensed or not and also find out about its latest reports.
  6. Payment schedule should be finalized beforehand and should be agreed upon by both the parties.

The increasing number of retirees, choosing to live rest of their years in CCRCs is an indication that they like and appreciate the facilities and life style that CCRC offers and they are happy with the programs and activities which suit their body and mind both. A contract with CCRC is in other words is a contract with relaxed and happy life.
