Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing care complements medication to help a patient recover from illness effectively and quickly. Skilled Nursing Care may be required post hospitalization to aid a faster recovery.  Before you are discharged from the hospital which has no outpatient  skilled nursing service, it is important that you get advice from the doctor or the discharge staff on which skilled nursing facility would best meet your post hospitalization needs.

Combined with your personal preference you can choose the facility that best meets your needs in mind in terms of  cleanliness, trained staff and other factors.

Medicare if qualified  may allow a patient to start getting skilled nursing services with 30 days of leaving the hospital. You or your family must familiarize yourselves with the rules and regulations of the Medicare clauses for availing skilled nursing services. This helps you to get the best out of this  plan.

Skilled Nursing services are offered by professional licensed nurses. They are the best people who can take care of your nursing and health needs in the immediate post hospitalization period. In a skilled nursing centre, professionals will evaluate your past and present medical record, your present condition and develop a  detailed nursing plan. This plan will include your skilled nursing requirements, dietary regulations and other factors which will help you start with your normal life fast.

You are entitled to certain rights as a citizen when you are in a skilled nursing facility. You have rights to privacy, respect, medical care, etc. which the nursing home must inform you before you are admitted into to a skilled nursing facility. You also have rights of not being not being discharged out of the nursing home unless you don’t fulfill the rules and regulations governing the facility. You also have rights to satisfactory quality care and charges that are being charged.

There are checklists available to satisfy yourself before you enter into a skilled nursing care facility. It is important that you satisfy yourself with most if not all the checks to guarantee yourself a short but enjoyable nursing home stay.
